What To Expect On Your First Visit

When you initially phone Pure Chiropractic to set up an appointment, you will most likely hear the friendly voice of our receptionist.  You will come to appreciate her as much as the rest of us do at Pure Chiropractic.  She will schedule a convenient time for you to come in for your initial appointment, which will usually take approximately 30-45 minutes.

When you enter our clinic, she will greet you and collect the important information from you, and guide you through the necessary office forms.  Our office setting is intended to make you feel comfortable and at ease while you wait for your appointment with the doctor. 

Consultation

Next, you will meet one of our friendly doctors (Dr. Owen or Dr. Michael) who will explain the whole procedure as he performs a thorough, complete, comprehensive and professional spinal and neurological examination.  We know from research that there are devastating spinal conditions called subluxations which are caused by traumas, such as a car accident, sports injury, fall, poor posture, stress and even the birthing process; that is why all of our families get checked for subluxations.  Standard physical, orthopedic, neurological and chiropractic tests will be performed to determine the cause of your subluxations.

Spinal Examination

Most people have never experienced a spinal examination like this.  We will first check your posture, measure your range of motion, take a brief history and then scan your body on a hi-tech, non-evasive, state of the art thermographic and surface electromyographic computer system which reveals the health of your nervous system.  If necessary, we will take two full spinal x-rays as a safety precaution.  This will help us to rule out fractures, tumors, infection and congenital blocks.  These pictures will also help us detect any abnormal curves in your spine, so that we can adjust them and bring your spine back to normal, thereby returning you back to a better state of health.  When it comes to your health we prefer not to guess!

Report

Before proper care can be rendered, the doctor will thoroughly study the findings of your examination; then you will participate in a Doctor’s Report as well as a personalized individual report where you will see your x-rays, review your findings and receive specific care and recommendations from the doctor.

Adjustment

Contrary to what you may have heard, chiropractors do not pop, snap, crack, or twist your back.  Any “popping” sound you may hear is simply the release of pressure built up in the joint.  An adjustment is a skilled process enabling the joint to return to its normal, optimal state thus allowing the nervous system to perform its functions properly.
