Natalie Brooks My Chiropractic Story
As a professional dancer, a dance studio owner, and an instructor of the ever popular ZUMBA fitness craze, I put my body through so much each day. I am constantly moving, bending, turning and stretching from the time I wake up until I fall into bed each night.
For the last 6 years , massage therapy has been a regular and much needed necessity for me. In June, I started to develop hip pain. It turned from an irritating tingle to severe pain which had started to affect every aspect of my day to day life. Rita, my massage therapist, recommended that it was time to visit a chiropractor.
There was no way this was going to happen. Aside from having little time in my day to add another to do item, I was possibly the most anti-chiropractic person I knew. My view of chiropractors was one which involved me sitting in some contraption as I had my neck aggressively snapped and contorted. I had the idea that chiropractors were able to crack you in ways as to force you to have to continue care for the rest of your days.
However, in September the pain reached a point where I could no longer comfortably dance, exercise, or sleep. I forced myself to contact Dr.Mike Heinzlmeir..who I had gone to school with. I remember sitting in the office that first day thinking there was no way he was going to be able to assist me.
It is now February, and I couldnt be happier that I made that initial visit. After sitting down with Dr. Mike...and hearing how much chiropractic care was proven to heal ones body, I decided to give up and let him help me. By this time, I not only suffered with hip pain, but constant headaches along with neck and shoulder pain.
Seeing my x-rays was a shocking moment. My neck was shaped like a banana, curving in the wrong direction. How does that even happen?! Dr. Mike seemed sure that he could help me and really forced me to ask questions and understand the level of care I was going to receive. It was an overload of information at first, but it made me really begin to understand how important it was to my career and my business to take care of my body outside of exercise and eating properly.
After just the first week of chiropractic care, my hip pain was nearly nonexistent and my headaches were happening a lot less often and were less severe. As I continued care, I began to notice that my posture was changing, my hip and neck had alot more flexibility..which in turn made my life alot easier to live each day. I will continue to visit Pure Chiropractic as what I have gained from them in such a short time has been life changing.
As jaded and misinformed as I was about chiropractic care, I am now happy to be able to recommend it to all of my fellow dancers and students. I joke that Dr Mike and Pure Chiropractic enable me to dance each day..but that isnt far from the truth. I am in debt to them for helping me live pain free and pursue my passion.
